Totem launched last week, promising to push the boundaries of AI-powered wagering. The new company’s products blend elements of social media, influencer content creation, and real-time wagering into cohesive experiences.
At launch, Totem already has a partnership with Kirgo, a crypto-first casino that has yet to launch in the US.
Karl Flores, founder of Totem, said:
Wagering needs to move at the speed of culture. We built Totem to integrate betting, content and engagement in ways that traditional platforms never could. Traditional wagering platforms move too slow for the next generation. By partnering with Kirgo, we’re aiming to change that for the bettor’s benefit.
Totem’s First Content Includes Live-Stream Innovations and More
Totem touted four new types of content as part of its launch.
- SLAPS is an AI-powered game “delivering instant-action betting, perfectly suited for the viral, content-driven gaming world.”
- Back Bet lets streaming viewers track, trade, hedge, or back bets made by their favorite streamers.
- Streamer Betting is similar, allowing viewers to bet on live content from Kirgo creators.
- Virtuals are AI-fueled virtual sports that can run 24/7 and give players something to bet on whenever they desire.
Kevin Williams, CEO of Kirgo, said of the content:
Kirgo has always been about challenging the norms of entertainment and gaming. Totem is setting the foundation for a new category in iGaming. The platform revolutionizes engagement for the fan of live streaming and sports. For Kirgo, it’s a limitless sandbox. Kirgo is partnering with fellow disrupters at Totem to continue our mission to gamify everything. SLAPS, Back Bet, and their AI-driven streaming products are game changers, and we’re incredibly excited to see how these innovations shape the future of the industry.
Streamer-Based Betting On The Rise?
Totem’s Streamer Betting product reminds me of another startup, Livespins, that was acquired by Evolution last year. Although the Livespins product was explicitly aimed at the US market, we have yet to see anything go live.
Still, it appears to be something of a trend that companies are looking for ways to add fan betting to the culture of influencer slots streaming. Totem’s partnership with Kirgo may not cross US borders yet, but it is pushing hard to bring stream-related betting experiences to the forefront of online gaming.
